Why the Screw Type Terminal Block need to be with the shrapnel?
In general, when the power engineer connects the 2-terminal 2-strand wires, the scrw type terminal blocks are manually inserted into the stripped wires, and then the copper on the power line contacts the terminal metal parts (galvanized copper) by screwing down the screws, so that the wires can be connected safely.

When the engineer tightens the screws downward, the metal parts (copper) with shrapnel will expand the contact area between the power cord and the shrapnel due to the shrapnel. At the same time, it will also generate downward elasticity. As long as the screws are not loose, the shrapnel can well clamp the corresponding power cord.
